After years of courtship the star couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has finally decided to tie the knot. So, what has kept the romance alive in their life?
Dating for teenagers can be a blessing as well as a curse. Teenage is that time of life when your teen can face a lot of peer pressure to date. With the popular media showing numerous young teenagers dating, teenagers face added pressure, but the question remains whether teenagers should be allowed to date.
How do you know your teen is ready for dating? Having a romantic partner means committing to them physically as well as emotionally and no teenager would be mature enough to understand that. Teen dating is superficial in the early stages and a means to explore sexuality. Relationships formed during the late teen years do not usually last for more than 2 years. Dating can be treated as a way to learn, if it does not happen when your child is in his early teens and with the increasing challenges of the dating world, you would need to teach your teen how to handle dating intelligently.

So, how can your teen date smartly? The best way for teenagers to date is to begin with an online dating chat. With the advent of online dating sites and the social media, the need to date from a safe distance while acquiring social skills is taken care of. Friendly dating online can teach your teen invaluable life skills such as empathy, socially acceptable behavioral norms, sensitivity, and how they can develop a meaningful relationship with others.
How do you know, if your teen is having a healthy and friendly dating relationship online? If your teen spends too much time on online dating site, then you would need to monitor him. Be open to letting your teen in on your dating experiences and give him ideas on how he could have a healthy relationship as opposed to an unhealthy relationship.
What can you do as a parent to ensure the safety of your teen? Check the legality of the dating site your teen is on. Never let your teen get involved in serious sexual relationships, as many parents have got arrested because they let their minor go unmonitored knowingly or unknowingly. Monitoring your teen's online activities will not only help you gain your teen's trust, but also improve your relationship with him.

Many years ago, in a land far away, there was an old man, making his way slowly through the market place. Just as he was about to leave, a young man suddenly stepped out from behind a building and stood in front of him, barring his way. Alarmed, the old man said, ‘Please let me pass.’ But the young man smiled and shook his head.

‘I want something from you, old man,’ he said. ‘Very well,’ said the old man. And with a flourish he pointed his finger at a chicken that was running across the road in front of them. Immediately the chicken stopped running and, before their eyes, turned into solid gold. The old man picked it up and gave it to the young man, saying, ‘Now, will you let me pass?’ The young man took the golden chicken, but continued to smile and shake his head.

‘I want more from you, old man,’ he said. ‘Very well,’ said the old man, and again with a flourish he pointed his finger, this time at a dog, who was just in the middle of relieving himself against a wall. Once again, the dog froze and immediately turned into a solid gold statue (cocked leg and all). The old man picked up the dog and gave it to the young man, saying, ‘There you are. Now will you let me pass?’ The young man took the dog, but still shook his head, saying, ‘It’s not enough.

I want more from you, old man.’ ‘Very well,’ said the old man, and again he pointed his finger, this time at a house on the edge of the market place. As the two of them watched, brick by brick the house too was transformed into solid, gleaming gold that dazzled them in the sunshine. ‘There you are,’ said the old man, pointing at the house. ‘Now, surely you will let me pass.’

But the young man remained standing just where he was in front of the old man. ‘It’s still not enough,’ he said. Exasperated, the old man cried, ‘But what else can I give you?’ The young man stepped closer and, taking hold of the other’s hand, replied, ‘I want… the finger.’

An abundance of spiders on Guam is the result of the loss of forest birds caused by an invasive snake that decimated the avian population, researchers say.

Biologists from Rice University, the University of Washington and the University of Guam found the loss of bird species has left the Pacific island's jungles with as many as 40 times more spiders than found on nearby islands like Saipan.

"You can't walk through the jungles on Guam without a stick in your hand to knock down the spiderwebs," Rice researcher Haldre Rogers said.

The biologists' study, published in the journal PLoS ONE, is the first to examine the impact of the brown treesnake on Guam's ecosystem.

Accidentally introduced to the island in the 1940s, the snake decimated the island's native bird species in one of the most infamous ecological disasters from an invasive species.

By the 1980s, 10 of 12 native bird species had been wiped out.

Since many birds consume spiders, compete with spiders for insect prey and utilize spider webs in their nests, their loss has led to a spider explosion on the island, researchers said.

"There isn't any other place in the world that has lost all of its insect-eating birds," Rogers said. "There's no other place you can look to see what happens when birds are removed over an entire landscape.

"Anytime you have a reduction in insectivorous birds, the system will probably respond with an increase in spiders. With insectivorous birds in decline in many places in the world, I suspect there has been a concurrent increase in spiders."

A new study has analyzed 2,442 postings — written by people who pay for sex — on an online discussion board that reviews sex providers and their services. Approximately one-third of the posts discussed emotional intimacy between sex workers and their clients. Many of the people who paid for sex expressed a desire to grow their relationships beyond the sex act and develop feelings and mutual love with the person.

Here are five ways people who pay for sex lie to themselves:

1. "I'm not doing anything wrong." The responders make excuses and do not obey the law. These comments were posted by people who are paying for sex. These people are a sub group of the population who are engaging in illegal activity. From a societal view, those who act outside the norms and rules of the society are not the norm for the culture.

Those who engage in paying for sex are breaking the law. Many of the people who engage in prostitution are also involved in a primary relationship like marriage or are living together with a partner. Usually, there is a social contract between the two people to be there for each other. In paying for sex, they are breaking this contract as well. In many ways, they are committing relational violence in their primary relationship.

2. "This could turn into a real relationship." The responders think they are getting a real relationship, but they are really seeking instant gratification. In one survey, 32 percent of customers arrested for soliciting a prostitute said they bought sex because they "didn't have time" for a conventional relationship. Twenty-eight percent did not want "the responsibilities" of a relationship, and 18 percent said they would "rather have sex with a prostitute than have a conventional relationship with a woman."

In other words, 78 percent of the people paying for sex did not want to bother with a "real" relationship and would rather pay for sex.  An unspoken message here is that the transaction between the sex worker and the client is about money and control. The client is paying to have sex acts performed on him, which help feed his fantasies. He gets to call the shots. The sex worker is providing a service to get paid.

3. "I just do it for the thrill." The responders say they are seeking the thrill, but they may be setting themselves up for a full blown sexual addiction. Biologically, people who seek intensity and thrill by engaging in sex acts are programming their brains to seek greater and greater thrills to get the same effect. The engagement of risky behavior leads to more risky behavior. Many of the responders might experience anxiety and withdrawal symptoms if they choose to stop paying for sex.

4. "I think I might love them." But really, the responders could be acting out their fantasies. They could be imagining they have "feelings of love" for the sex worker. Even in "real" relationships there is an aspect of projecting what you want onto the other person, therefore it makes sense that someone who pays a "repeat" sex worker could imagine he has a "real relationship" with her. I wonder what would happen if he stopped paying?

5. "I deserve it." The responders have a sense of entitlement. In other words they are saying, "I want sex a certain way and I deserve to get it." We have the ability to think and feel. Yes someone can pay for sex and feel momentarily satisfied; however, in my opinion they are depriving themselves the joy of true authentic emotional connection with a real person based on mutuality for the long term.

If you have paid sex workers and have tried to stop yet keep going back to them, seek professional help. You can overcome this behavior. How do you get love and emotional intimacy?

It all begins with a commitment to being the healthiest you can be, from the inside out. Learn to love all the parts of yourself even the places that hurt or feel shameful. Healthy sexuality between two people involves vulnerability and safety in the relationship. Both partners are attached to one another physically, emotionally and spiritually.

This model of relationship mutually benefits each partner. It takes work and time to develop emotional intimacy, and it also requires delayed gratification. By learning how to be a safe person emotionally with a chosen safe person, you can develop a more complex positive response system that is stable and sustainable over time. Choose wisely.
