New York is the city that opens the fashion week season and afterward all the other shows follow. The first American fashion week was held in the Big Apple back in 1943. The show was at first dedicated exclusively to the press, and it was called the Press week. Because of the World War I, the American designers where stuck on homeland as it was impossible to travel. With their clothes and their creations they managed to convince the media that they were not copying the French designers. This is the moment when the press began to offer them more coverage.
Fashion weeks are more popular in our days this is why the public is also larger, being composed of potential buyers, actors, celebrities and media representatives. All the people present there dress to impress and the snap shots from the front rows prove this. The fashion photographers have their hands busy by trying to capture all the models on the catwalks and all those that are off the catwalk.
